Elemental Relationships?

I can't seem to find them anywhere online nor in the game?
What are the relationships between the elements in this game?
How many elements are there?
(I can only recall eight: Plant-Insect, Machine, Water, Fire, Dark, Holy, Flying, Beast)

There's definitely only 8 of them in dawn/dusk but I don't know how they interrelate at all. I assume that holy and dark are opposite, much like water and fire. But other than that, I'm just not certain...

On that note, other than purely knowing all of the Digimon and their weaknesses, is it possible to predict their weaknesses from their typing?

I'm going to quote this from KilledHeart, since he beat me into answering this.

"That's families, elements are Thunder, Water, Fire, Metal, Dark, Light, Wind and Earth.

Every Digimon has a hidden Resistance status for each element, the lowest value is their "weakness" and the highest one their "resistant" one. Obviously hitting something with something it's weak against deals more damage.

You can increase these using farm items, to the point your digimon doesn't have any "weakness"."

I get that, but is there any way to know what element a Digimon would be weak to (in the wild) just by their type? Or is it not as simple as that, and all the different Digimon have weaknesses that are totally irrelevant of their species?

You can't know the weakness of a digimon just from his element. For example, both daemon and Argomon Mega are dark types, but argomon is weak to holy,while daemon is weak to machine.

There are 8 Element, USUALLY a type of digimon uses that element

Holy Digimons - Usually uses Holy moves
Demon Digimons - Usually uses Dark Moves
Plant/Insect Digimons - Usually use Electric attacks
Machine Digimons - Usually use Steel attacks
Beast Digimons - Usually use earth attack
Dragon Digimons - Usualy use Fire attacks
Aquan Digimon - Need I say more?
Bird Digimon - Again, do I really need to tell?
