The groups (minus Gaomon) was now at the foot of their destination, the Steem Mountain. Gloria, having a map of the area on her player guide, found out that there are two possible routes, which cross twice on the way to the summit. The group decided to split up. Nodoka, Chanook and Troy (and their digimon partners) Took the east route, while Gloria, Francois and Vladimir Went to the north route.
-Chanook: Are you sure about this? Your group is short one Digimon!
-Vladimir: We'll be fine. Although it'd be better if Gaomon was with us, I think Coronamon and Veemon can handle the protection of our group.
-Veemon and Coronamon: Leave it to us guys!
-Gloria: Chanook, Lunamon, take care of Troy, ok?
-Chanook: Don't worry, with Lunamon, Lalamon and Dorumon, he's got nothing to fear.
Each small group left to take their own path. According to the distance, they should meet 2 hours after they split up.
-Gloria: Well, do you think we'll find Gaomon?
-Vladimir: I have no doubt we will.

-Gloria: I hope you're in for some fighting, Coronamon!
-Coronamon: You bet! CORONAMON, DIGIVOLVE TOO... *digivolution scene* FIRAMON!
-Veemon: VEEMON, DIGIVOLVE TOO... *digivolution scene* VEEDRAMON!
-Firamon: Holy Shot!
-Veemon: V-Nova Blast!
The attacks didn't even faze the two huge insects digimons
-Okuwamon: This is all you can do? How pathetic! DOUBLE SCISOR CLAW!
-MegaKabuterimon: This is an insult. You,re not even worth our time! HORN BUSTER!
Both Firamon and Veedramon got defeated in one blow, reverting to their respective rookie forms.
-Vladimir: We are in some sort of a bind, are we?
-Gloria: You said it... this is bad!
-Francois: I can't beleive it. This can't end here, can it?
Suddenly, the two Ultimate digimon disapeared, the same way Peckmon did when he was defeated.
-Gloria: What? What happened?
-Francois: This is impossible!
-Veemon: Whoa! My sheer will defeated those guys! I'm AWESOME!
-Vladimir: Sorry to disapoint you Veemon, but I hardly think this is the case. Look up there!
A mysterious digimon wearing a red cloak, and had black wings was standing there. His face could not be seen.
-: Are you fine?
-Coronamon: A few bruises there and there, but we're all fine.
-Veemon: Who are you?
-: My name is Daemon
-Francois: Daemon? You're one of those Mega Level demon Digimons?
-Daemon: Yes, indeed, I am a Mega level digimon, but don't let my demon type scares you. I am on your side.
-Gloria: Whew.... at least. I doubt we'd be able to match a Mega level digimon.
-Daemon: Are you alone?
-Gloria: No, we have three fellow players who have taken the east path with their digimon partners!
-Daemon: Ok, I will lead them here. Wait for me.
Daemon disapeared, and reapeared with the rest of the group. After that, he led the group to the summit of the mountain.
-Daemon: I was entrusted with the job of leading players here.
-Chanook: But why?
-Daemon: To give the players the treasure of this mountain.
-Lunamon: The treasure? So it wasn't a baseless rumor after all!
-Daemon: No, it was not.
-Francois: What is this treasure?

-Daemon: This digivice will allow you to communicate between your fellow guild members. It also has other uses that will be revealed to you at a later time. Now take one each. WHen you touch them, they will change colors that will match with your soul.
-Nodoka: With our soul?
Each one took a digivice. And like Daemon said, they all changed colors. Daemon now told the meanings of the colors.
-Daemon: Chanook, you got the Dark Blue digivice. This means you possess the Digivice of Sorrow
-Chanook: Of Sorrow?
-Daemon: Nodoka, yours has turned violet, the symbol of Grief. And you Troy with the Dark Green one, you have the symbol of Pain. Francois, you got the dark red one, the symbol of Memory,
-Francois: Memory?
-Daemon: Gloria, you have gotten the color Brown, the symbol of Despair. And last, Vladimir, you go the black one, the symbol of Solitude.
-Vladimir: ...
-Veemon: What are those negative feelings for?
-Francois: Yeah, I was expecting something like the Digivice of courage, or something like that!
-Daemon: The meaning of these symbols will be explained to you in due time. For now, you must seek your friend, who is being kept to the other side of the mountain, in the Digital Glacier.
-Troy: Yeah, I agree with him, let's not bother with our symbol right now. We have a partner to save!
-Vladimir: Solitude, hmm?
-Francois: What are you doing Vladimir?
-Vladimir: Sorry, I spaced out!
